The Brain Dynamics Lab focuses on functional neuroimaging and cognitive neuropsychiatry, with a commitment to developing a cognitive and biological understanding of the symptoms of schizophrenia.

The CNOS Lab advances understanding of the symptoms of schizophrenia through neuroimaging and cognitive neuropsychiatry. The goal is to translate knowledge back to patients for better coping and treatment.

Meet our team

Dr Todd S. Woodward

Professor, Department of Psychiatry, UBC — Principal Investigator

Dr. Woodward’s research explores the cognitive and brain mechanisms of schizophrenia, with a focus on delusions, hallucinations, and cognitive impairments. His labs integrate behavioral testing, neuroimaging, non-pharmacological treatment for psychosis, and innovative applied multivariate statistics, with these paths converging on the study of the overlap between cognition and symptoms in schizophrenia at the level of cognitive modes detectable by fMRI. His long-term goal is understanding the symptoms of mental illness, particularly delusions and hallucinations in schizophrenia.
